Adam Solomonian usual musical outlet is as singer and guitarist for Ottawa melodic punkers The Transit. He also does the odd solo show, though it's been a while since I've seen his name in lights. The Transit have been busy working on the followup to their "It's Lights Out For Downtown" CD, so perhaps that's why. He frequently throws a Replacements cover into his set, which gives you a good idea of what he sounds like. I've been very impressed both times I've seen him, and he could certainly make a name for himself as a solo artist.
Attending shows can be very educational for a guitarist. At Solomonian's show I learned you should always carry replacement bridge pins. If you lose one - as Solomonian did - you can forget about finding it in a dark nightclub, and if you're a lefty - as Solomonian is - it can be tough to locate a replacement guitar. Fortunately there was a left-handed guitarist who lived nearby in the audience, so he managed to finish his set on a borrowed acoustic. Here he fishes around in his guitar for what he thought was the pin (it wasn't). World famous Ottawa punk rock photographer and punkottawa.com supremo Shawn Scallen thought it would be funny if I took this picture, so I did.
