It was time for another dose of beef brisket and music Thursday night as I headed back to Pressed to catch a trio acts. The lineup featured a bunch of folks well familiar from other acts and one Matthew Swan, of Extra Happy Ghosts (among others) performing under his solo name Astral Swans. (Since I only took a few photos, and couldn't post them quickly, I'm going to put them all up now and forgo coming back to the show at a later date)
First up, new local trio Heavy Bedroom. If you've been following this blog for any length of time, you'll know Matt from Hamilton and New Teeth and Alex and Tyler from Roberta Bondar. They describe themselves as fuzzy folk, but I also pick up a heavy shoegaze post punk vibe.

There was some guitar app consultation so he could get an accurate open tuning; he made quite a lot of use of them.
He ended stuff with a cover of Canned Heat's
Going Up The Country, and invites all and sundry to
download his demos from his Bandcamp. On to Chris Page, who rounded things out with his trademark melodic rock, played on acoustic.
It seems like half the time I'm trying to capture what's happening outside the Pressed window.
There was a cover of Husker Du's
Don't Want To Know if You Are Lonely, as well as a Parts and Labour song, with accompanying shout-out to Sandy victims.
