The artist currently known as Prince

Will Oldham, performing as 'Bonnie' Prince Billy, made an appearance at Babylon last year. The place was packed, as befits indie royalty. He was touring with Bjork at the time and had a day off - "Played a good long set" was his description of the night's events on his website, and so it was. Excellent shows from The Golden Famile and Adam Solomonian (whose opening set is depicted below) rounded things out nicely.
It was a very good demonstration of what a solo performer can accomplish. Here he plays his heart out on autoharp. He also used a reso-guitar, and was a bit of a ham - but in a good, understated way. He had drinks and bananas on stage. Didn't touch the bananas till he was done, then peeled one off the bunch and split with it. I presume someone took the remaining fruit and either ate it or auctioned it off on eBay.
