Best in show

The Sonny Best Band had one of the best independent country albums of the year in 2004 and are generally darn fine. They put on an excellent show live at the 2004 Bluesfest (barring a regrettable implosion of the pedal steel players' Sho-Bud).

Here's Mr. Best - a.k.a. Billy Kroon - looking resplendent in black shirt, black jeans, black hat and aviator glasses.



Here's Miss Lily Pearl (Angela Desveaux to her folks).



Here's the rhythm section, and their aviator sunglasses. On bass guitar and drums, Bucky "Lucky" Barnes and Bud McGee (Eric Digras of Bionic ... and who is the real McGee? I know not).





And finally, most of the band country-rocking out in all their glory.



Sorry, no pictures of Jimmey Steel. Like I said - his namesake instrument went kerblooie before I could snap a picture, and he was forced to spend the rest of the show drinking beer and lounging with the ladies, poor guy.
