I arrived at the MBNA Grassroots Stage a touch early for Thornetta Davis. Instead I had the chance to see R&B ensemble Detroit Women tear through their last four tunes. They already had the crowd pretty worked up.









A very quick shift and Thornetta Davis came on to rock the joint.











She also got a boost from festival linchpin the Texas Horns (that's Davis sideman Phil Hale at the keyboards). How does Kaz Kazanoff get his hair like that?



That was pretty good, but as Sunday afternoons go it was no Sunday Morning.
