All the good people

Slim Cessna's Auto Club have a lot of admirers, and I dare say a lot of people were disappointed when their last show was cancelled after they were barred from entering Canada by the ever- vigilant folks at Canada's Border Service (Slim was most apologetic about all the trouble). Anyway, this time they were allowed in so once again long-suffering Auto Club fans could experience the band's country punk revival extraordinaire. The Club came with a good long setlist, a new rhythm section and some old hands.

Slim and Munley, the core of the band.

If you must have a doubleneck guitar, it should be covered in red baize and feature a pickguard that can fluctuate between a picture of Jesus and his virgin mom like the Rev. Dwight Pentecost here.

Bassist Shane Trask.

John Rumlay was here for the band's first show six years ago; he also builds the band's guitars.

Gregory Garcia Jr. is the nephew of the band's regular drummer Ordy. He did a swell job.

Slim goes down!

Leg-pulling action!

Cymbal-whacking action!

I'm not sure what's going on here ...

Snuggling action!

There was plenty of crowd visitation.

And lots of pointing!

Also some surfing.

Singalong action!

Here's an early shot.

And a much later and much sweatier one.

Hooray!

Unfortunately I was a big dummy and forgot to bring enough cash to buy their live recording, which they're only selling at shows.
