Them's fightin' words

F!ghtF!ghtF!ght were the opening band (following a brief solo turn from Place man Andrew) at last Wednesday's first annual Synthfest (I presume that means that in a year or so there will be a second annual Synthfest). As they admitted during part of their banter, they aren't all that synthesizer-oriented, but their initial listing at punkottawa.com described them as "synthrock" so they got an invite. Frontwoman Kelly Shinkaruk had suggested I check them out at a show at the Avant-Garde Bar. Unfortunately it was the same night as Tricky Woo, The Mighty Eagle Band and Rasputin at Babylon so I missed it; I had better luck last week since there wasn't much else going on unless you felt like enjoying the horrible weather at Tulip Fest.

Kelly - hair and band shirt co-ordination is always a good thing.

Jameson Bevington demonstrates an alternative use for one's synthesizer - guitar pick holder.

Sebastien Dupont obviously prefers the tradional method ....

Etienne Sylvain needed a somewhat larger riser.

Fighting action!

Since this is Synthfest, I'd better make with some extra synthy pictures ...

The band's next gig in town (after a two-town trip to Guelph and Oshawa) is at the Gap of Dunloe, June 3.
