Two bits

Quarter Life finished the night off ... I think reviewing the Dave Matthews Band's latest CD must have scarred me for life, because now I'm hearing its influence in an improbable number of musical acts, of which Ottawa's Quarter Life is the latest. There was a definite country feel as well. Guitarist Anders Drerup is one of the few players who can pull off those speedy Nashville licks well. The band has swung a slot at Bluesfest, playing before David Gogo and ZZ Top on Tuesday.

Singer Peter Voith gets all scrunchy.

Drerup ... I'm not sure wearing an AC/DC T-shirt and that kind of hat at the same time is allowed.

Bassist Jason Leen, a bouncy guy on stage.

Keyboardist Tyler Kealey.

I failed to get a good shot of drummer Shane McEwan, but here's one of the whole gang.

They play July 9 at Hope Beach at noon and The Rainbow later that night.
  • Show reminder: Bionic and Manpower play Babylon; Athletic Automaton, AIDSWolf and Sleeping Pilot play an AA show earlier in the evening. GOA! and Expatriates bring the noise-rock, post rock and whatchamacallit rock to The Avant-Garde.
