The New York Dolls played a killer show, even though A.R. Kane is no longer with us. But Sami Yaffa of Hanoi Rocks fame was a more than able replacement. Brian Delaney pulled off a similarly able feat on drums, Steve Conte was a sparkplug replacement for Johnny Thunders and Brian Koonin - a longtime associate of singer David Johansen - did a fine job on the keys. The band was obviously enjoying itself - Sylvain Sylvain, the other surviving member, was definitely having a ball.
David Johansen up close. The lady who develops my film asked me to blur this photo ... maybe it was a bit too close?
Sylvain Sylvain - sorry, am I repeating myself?
Sam Yaffa has the look down, but one would expect no less from such a glam pro.
Brian Delaney - "an Irish bastard!" said Johansen ... is that bad?
Steve Conte, a real live wire.
I didn't get any good Brian Koonin photos ... you can see him at right as the band rocks out.
The original twosome! And Sam.
Singalong action!
More singalong action!
And Johansen strikes a frankly Jagger-like pose as the finale nears.
It would be untrue to say I was totally thrilled, but it was certainly no disgrace.
