Swamp soul

Mofro are a soulful act with a serious groove from Florida - they remind me of Creedence Clearwater Revival. The band is J.J. Grey, Daryl Hance and a host of other players drafted as need be. Their music has something of an environmental theme running through it, and a love for the older Florida - before condos, golf courses, country clubs and Mickey Mouse.

Singer, guitarist and sometime keyboards player J.J. Grey. "You may be wondering at this guy in a long-sleeve shirt and corduroys, but I'm from Florida so this is like air-conditioning to me." (It was 33C ... he did grant it got hot like Florida in Canada when the sun moved enough to hit him directly.)

Organist Adam Scone was also handling the bass duties.

Daryl Hance slides a little as drummer George Sluppick provides some backing vocals.

Scone, Grey and some greenery.

Either of their albums are well worth your attention.
