Moving mountains

Last time Pink Mountaintops rolled through town, it was a one-man show: Stephen McBean, also of Jerk With Bomb, on guitar and drum machine, opening for Frog Eyes and Destroyer. Since then he's hooked up with some like-minded Vancouverites and formed yet another topological outfit, Black Mountain. One gushing Pitchfork review later and next thing I hear they're opening for Coldplay. That wasn't the last of Pink Mountaintops, though - he recently released Axis of Evol, and his acclaim has spread far enough that a sizeable crowd showed up the Barrymore's gig. For a solo act, it certainly has enough members!

McBean.

Amber shakes it.

Joshua Wells (with Lyndsay Sung in back); he and Webber have a duo project going as well.

Pink Mountaintops has too many drummers to keep track of, but I think this one is Brad McKinnon.

Percussionist Corey Ganges (I think ... this is one of those bands with a revolving cast).

C.C. Rose, also of Vancougar and The Cinch.

Lyndsay gets in some bass time.

Amber Webber rocks the Danelectro U3- Squier Jagmaster hybrid.

Mountainous action!

Three different people asked me to get a picture of Josh's shadow. All right, then!

The band played a particularly smoking version of Sweet 69 with loads of extra percussion, and some help from the Black Angels.

Here's the set list, for those of you who like that kind of thing.
