The next band of Brisbaners on stage was Iron On. The band wears its Sonic Youth influences on its sleeve (and on Ian Rogers’ bass guitar, which sported a “Sonic Nurse” sticker). My Bloody Valentine, Dinosaur Jr. and other bands fond of walls of guitar sound also feature in their makeup. Something about their scree brought out the shutter speed manipulator in me ...
Vocals were shared between Ross Hope, a somewhat reedy singer, and Sarah Cooper, who has a more declamatory style. Here they are! (And larger.)
Cooper solo. It's worth checking out her blogs about IO's Canadian sojourn.
Hope emotes.
Ian in lights - looks quite odd, even when large.
I failed to get a good picture of Marieca Page, either drumming or practicing her martial arts kicks on Gin Clubber and Giant of Science Ben P. Salter between sets. Here she is getting a rock salute from Cooper.
Rock action where you can tell what's happening!
Rock action where you can't! (And larger, of course.)
Rogers takes a leap off the drum riser (and big, big, big!).
Some shouty bits.
The whole lot.
Yes, there's a larger picture of that too!
