The single life

Four'n'Giv'r's CD release was a well-attended affair, with various Knurlings starting things off with some solo sets. First up, Merle Knurling and the Silent K. The K was more present in spirit, since John Sproull was off somewhere instead of playing the drums like he did at their last show that I caught.

Dave Aardvark makes the introduction. Often at rock shows you'll see the band fortify themselves with a wee plate of shots. Who is Merle to do different?

The Dom isn't a big place, so this closeup is just an excuse to use my telephoto lens.

Merle shows off his moves.

Solo action!

Next up, fellow Knurling Greg Watson played a set of Hasil Adkins-ifried fuzzpunk blues as Mississippi Grover, including a cover of The Cramps' Goo Goo Muff.

Up close!

MG's eyes roll up ... the skull doesn't mess with that eyeball business.

A better view of MG's percussive gear; he also has a shaker in the toe of his sock - ideal for those rattler sounds.

Bug-eyed action!

Great sets from both, who can of course also be seen in full-band form in The Glads and Orange Alabaster Mushroom, respectively.
