Panic and the Rebel Emergency had the thankless task of being Gogol Bordello's opening act. It takes a brave bunch to open the door for one of the world's hottest live acts, but they have a fair amount of experience under their belts. They started out in Canada as the Rebel Emergency, picked up Panic when they moved to New York, and have since called both coasts home before heading back the Big Apple. They mix reggae with a sizable helping of metallic hard rock. It's not quite to my taste, but they put on a solid performance.
Panic on the microphone; Roddy Soul at right.
Geoff rocks it.
Bassist Bucci in the spotlights.
A slightly out of focus Evan on drums.
Faceoff action with Bucci and rhythm guitarist Adam.
More vocal action ...
... and more Geoff.
Most hybrid bands don't do that great a job, but I thought they pulled it off.
