Fear the Flaps!

Come to think of it, one of the tracks on The Flaps' debut CD is called Fear - darn appropriate for a Halloween party in the spooky environs of Irene's. Decorated with the appropriate degree of festive cheer - er, I mean morbidity - we see here the ghastly'n'ghostly state of Irene's on Oct. 29 ... Fortunately the one thing I really feared, that my pictures would get screwed up like they did at the last Flaps show - did not come to pass. Let the big-ass Flaps Halloween post commence!

Pumpkins and gravestones! Reminds me of my old backyard. We had gravestones there, too. Can you see the skeleton?

Pat Lawlor does the ladybug boogie, complete with smoke machine. And no, he was not the only man in pantyhose there that night.

Jamie "Jacques the Monkey" Gullikson goes ape! As always!

I can't decide if Martin Newman was in costume as one of those fluorescent star maps that people put on the ceilings of their kid's bedrooms, or a man with radioactive buboes. It doesn't show well (okay, at all) but those blobs on his shirt do glow in the dark.

The band built guitarist John Frankenstein Higney Jr. from the spare parts of other guitarists just for this show. (I took another picture of Higney that turned out a little dark, but sort of interesting).

Terrifying ladybug-monkey action!

They're holding another holiday hoedown at Irene's Dec. 31 for New year's Eve. They'll share the stage with The Empiricals.
