Men of property

Man, it's not easy keeping up with all the pop psychedelic acts wandering around these days on the Woodsist and Mexican Summer labels ... I had heard of Real Estate, seen their album in stores, but still haven't gotten around to picking it up. Strange, since their opening set for Kurt Vile was really good. They seem to have an ear for New Zealand style jangle.

Flashless action with, from left to right, guitarist Mathew Mondanile, singer and guitarist Martin Courtney, drummer Etienne Duguay and bassist Alex Bleeker.

The New Jersey quartet seems to be all quiet on the touring front right now.
  • Show reminder: There is much metal in town ... over at Babylon we have the last show from Buried Inside, Kingdom Shore, the not entirely dead yet Barrier and Crusades; meanwhile over at the Avant-Garde you have Cauchemar (the band fronted by heavy metal goddess of cookery Annick Giroux), Muffler Crunch and Trioxin 245; The Rookers, Gunsmoke and Sons of Scotland perform their annual benefit for the Legion at The Dominion; Day 2 of the R&B Festival at the Rainbow features Ken Workman and The Union, Double Double and The Mud Boys; Lonesome Paul and The Valley Ramblers perform at the Elmdale House; Irene's host Royal Ottawa.
