Apply directly to forehead

What the world needs now is more local 1980s hardcore band reunions, at least if the resurrected Porcelain Forehead is anything to go by. The quartet were born about 1982 and had a good three-year run, releasing a fine EP when still living (re-released at the show with bonus tracks) and a posthumous LP in 1993. They played a fiery set with some choice covers and a big heap of originals which thrilled the crowd's young hipsters and punk geezers alike.

First, a very bendy John Westhaver of Birdman Sound introduces the band ...

Then Forehead contemporary Gregory "Vigilance Deliberte" Foissy III - who played bass in Tainted Meat bassist - said a few words.

And now the show begins! With Mike Hillis on the microphone, Chris McLellan on guitar.

Ian Seabrook was the band's first drummer. They've also pulled in Janine Frenken of Unwarranted Trust - another contemporary - on bass.

Gripping action!

Less fisheye, more Frenken.

More Mike!

Explanatory action!

Ian's drumkit was much-admired.

Big rump-shaking finale!

Soon enough they were opening for super-fan Jello Biafra and his Guantanamo School of Medicine here and in T.O. - a post about the former show to come when I get around to it (in the meantime, you can check out the photos from that show on my Flickr photostream, link at right).
