Just peachy

The final show of August in the basement at 854 Bronson Ave. also featured the debut of Peach Kelli Pop (named after the Red Kross song, I presume) at a show also featuring The Smith Westerns and Suppositories. Allie Hanlon is the brains behind the operation - she also plays drums for The White Wires (and also the Misclits and Felines). As for her own solo musical output, after a youthful flirtation with synth-pop, she went lo-fi bedroom garage. Live she recruited sister Emily on keyboards and tambourine shaking, Davey Quesnelle of many bands on bass and Wires frontman Ian Manhire on drums.

Soundchecking action!

A little while later the Hanlons offered up the last cupcake.

Allie's heading to the West Coast (possibly to Fresno, to grow a mutant afro), but there will be one last pre-departure gig at the Bytown Tavern with The Visitors and White Wires.
  • Show reminder: As mentioned yesterday and the day before, Army of Saint Joan, TokyoSexWhale, Ian Blurton + Huron = Happy Endings and Mountanaka are performing at Babylon; Matthew Good and Mother Mother play the NAC; Wise, Young and King, The Red Light Saints and The Termights perform at Zaphod's; Mad Parish and The Sick Sick Sicks rock alongside The Rockalily Burlesque at the Rainbow; Bear Claps, New Teeth, Ornaments and Sugarbeard are at the Avant-Garde. The Ken Tizzard Band and Autumns Canon are at Mavericks; Irene's hosts Orchid Thieves and Riot Police ... hmm, could be some band conflict there! Steve Stacey and The Stump Splitters with opener Ken Workman play The Elmdale House.
