Sexy party

"What is a soiree? Is that like a party ... a sexy party?" So inquired the lead singer of Anathallo at the Sybris-headlined show at Zaphod's of the opener's name. I don't think the question was resolved to anyone's satisfaction, though some people apparently thought Sexy Party would be a good name for a band. As it happens, I had seem The Soiree just a couple of days earlier at the Clocktower Pub. They were on the bill with The Mighty Eagle Band (who I couldn't stick around for). Their indie-folk pop was given a lo-fi, Smog-style flavour by their using a Marshall JCM 900 head (belonging to Shawn "Jams" Hill of course!) as a vocal PA.

Eric Roberts does some shaking by the Clocktower's fireplace.

Bryce Colenbrander sings!

Mike Armstrong bathes in the warm glow of the Clocktower's billiard table lights.

Pub rock action! With Matthew Arnold at right.

And now, on to Zaphod's ... I took this picture mostly because of Anathallo's gear stacked in the background. I wonder if they ever used their bass drum to write their set list on.

Mike in the red.

Matthew in lights.

Sexy party action!

It's legal now because the Supreme Court says so, you know ...

So nice I saw them twice.
