In their travels

I was listening to Expo 70 as I walked over to the Clocktower Pub, an appropriate advance soundtrack to a show by Carlangas and The Band Whose Name Is A Symbol. The pub's rec room was pretty crowded with friends and family, not surprising considering how long it's been since he's performed here. In fact the last time I saw him as Carlangas was back in 2005 at Irene's - quite a stretch.

Charlie is also the grimacing champ. His space-funk-soul-rock always makes me think of the first trak off Maggot Brain.

The Band Whose Name Is A Symbol once again switched their lineup a bit for this show; Jan Lis (of Hoodlum) has joined on violin and brings a lot to the game. They also had a guest oud player from Dubai on the first couple of songs and leading things in. They were so psychedelic I was seeing double.
