On the run

My plans for Saturday, June 5, did not include going to see The Woodrunners. The only act on my agenda that evening was Ottawa's first and only punk rock band, The Action, reformed to triumphant reviews after frontman Ted Axe's return from foreign climes. However, the start date for The Action's show at the Dom was a little fuzzy, so I figured if I showed up early I could always breeze in next door to Zaphod Beeblebrox and catch The Woodrunners and The Flats. So it proved to be .... when I walked in  at 9 p.m. and asked the doorman when things were starting he said "Right about now." So here we go!

Marc "Ragged" Audet and Curtis "Lampshade" MacPhee provide dual frontman vocals.

Also on board, Craig "Stryker" O'Leary on drums and  Shawn "Biff" Purdy  on bass.

A very sweet-sounding Americana outfit that should suit fans of The Cash Brothers and Joe Pernice's various outfits. They're playing another show at Zaphod's on June 28 - part of the Monday's free showcase with the Grass, and will be at the Elmdale House July 30.
