Jailbreak

The sad demise of Mugshots meant there was some scrambling by the folks at Debaser to find replacement venues. Fortunately Black Squirrel Books stepped up to provide a space for Trails, Pipahauntas and The Everywheres. (I'll also note in passing that another Debaser show that was going to be at Mugshots - Special Costello, Baby Cages, Bondar and Freak Heat Waves on July 24 - is now moving to Le Temporaire, in Gatineau.) Pipahauntas, the solo project of Organ Eyes and Blue Angel's Sam Pippa started up shortly after (I missed Trails again, unfortunately). Here's some ghostly Sam.

There was a good crowd, too.

Over to The Everywheres, a really excellent psych-pop outfit from Halifax. They made me think of the breezier side of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and were unreservedly excellent throughout. Here's Nicholas Hanlon, Marilla Word, Samuel Hill, Bianca Palmer and Adam Gravelle.

Then I popped over to the House of Targ to catch The Putz and Neck.
