Bluesfest: Slyde

On to the Sunway Stage for a shot of Slyde. This is another Ottawa quartet on the heavy end of things, but with leanings toward prog rather than grunge. The young foursome get frequent Rush comparisons, and also cite Euro-combos like In Flames and Soilwork.

Nathan da Silva rocks the Flying V.

The band is prepping their next release and gearing up for a December-January tour, landing in Ottawa January 8 at the Rainbow.
  • Show reminder: There's mayhem at Mavericks, with, um, er, Mayhem, Keep of Kalessin, Hate, Abigail Williams and Woe! There's a different flavour of rock at the Rainbow when Shot By Jack, Lost Youth, Wizard Party and PSOP drop in. Fingerpicker extraordinaire Richard Smith, presented is at the Elmdale.
