Folk explosion

Friday I popped over to Pressed again for some folk-styled action. Ex-Ottawan Gianna Lauren was back in town (yes, she has to go to Halifax before I can finally get around to seeing her live here), Edmontonian Jom Comyn made the trek east and Bytown's own Winchester Warm filed out the middle.

Gianna rocks the semi-hollow.

Winchester Warm rocked things up a bit with their set. It's been quite a while since I saw them as a full band - that was at Bluesfest 2012 with Sarah Hallman on bass. Since then they've added some extra acreage, with Michael from Acres joining bandmate Matthew.

Jom Comyn wrapped things up in fine style. On record he makes me think quite a bit of early Smog; things were stripped down to just him with a guitar for this set, which made things a bit sparser.

Toe-tapping action! I may have to start a blog just of performers' footwear.

A fine evening of sounds, though at the end I was more than ready to curl up and go to bed.
