A great leap forward

Eamon McGrath dropped me a line a little while back asking me to come out to his show on Monday night at Zaphod's. Not that he really had to ask, since I've liked his shows the two times I've seen him, and even better this was going to be a full-band outing. Opening up was Jack Spinks, of whom I know little, other than he's also the mainman in Brothers Through The Hill.

The man himself! Sounding a bit like Steve Earle. Like Eamon, his voice is on the rough-hewn side.

He was accompanied by Blair Hogan, whose appeared on NCR before as part of Silver Creek and accompanying Sarah Burnette.

Next up, Eamon, accompanied as ever by stalwart sideman Peter Dreimans on steel, keys and piano.

After a couple of songs as a duo, Matt and Jon of Winchester Warm stepped on stage to provide some extra oomph.

And of course there was jumping!

The next stop on his tour promoting his new album is Thunder Bay Thursday; then it's off to points west.
