Destruction, substitution and Doiron

Wednesday night I headed over to Bar Robo for a fine lineup of bicoastal action: From way out west, Adrian Teacher and The Subs; from the east, Construction & Destruction and Sappy superstar Julie Doiron. Construction and Destruction were up first: Here's Coleen and David!

Adrian Teacher is always a funny guy to watch live, and he was definitely as bouncy at this gig as when I caught him at Raw Sugar last year.

Julie took the stage next, along with guitarist C.L. McLaughlin from her new band, Weird Lines (who put in a Bar Robo appearance just a couple of weeks earlier). Here's some closeup action with Julie!

A storm in the east

I think I can officially confirm that the Sunday before Christmas, during a freezing rain storm, is not the best time to attract an audience. Fortunately a few folks trudged through the snow to check out an incursion from the Maritimes at Pressed, courtesy of Kappa Chow and Construction & Destruction. Remi Royale was also on hand to liven things up in the middle slot.

Kappa Chos is a bit of an oddity, since apparently there is both a Montreal version (featuring members of Astral Gunk and Devil Eyes) and a Sackville version. Joe Chamandy of Astral Gunk bonds the two version together.

The whole lot! Although I gather the Sackville lineup sometimes boasts five people - we got the touring version, I guess.
