Great weight

A couple of years back Iron Man came to town for All That Is Heavy and made quite an impression, not only winning over fans but making a bunch of fans on the local metal scene. Naturally Jenn Bradshaw invited then back for the latest round of All That Is Heavy. This edition rounded out the bill with a trio of local acts; Muffler Crunch and Loviatar make regular National Capital Rock Appearances, while Longhouse is new on the scene. They went on first. This was also an album-release show for their Mike Bond-recorded debut Earth From Water, a very High On Fiery slab. Here's bassist Joshua.

It feels like a long while since I've seen Muffler Crunch live - February 2014, if the blog is to be trusted. I'm going to try to see them a little more frequently than once a year because they always put on a killer show.

Iron Man, mighty Maryland titans of doom, were in town for the 2012 edition of All That Is Heavy; this time around they got to headline. In the intervening years they also were signed by Relapes and released South Of The Earth. Here's main man Albert Morris III.

Heavy ending

Blood Ceremony capped All That Is Heavy II's marathon of metal off with a fine set; The crowd had dwindled a bit (things were getting late enough that they had to chop a couple of songs off their set list to make closing time), but the T.O. combo kicked out a fine set of traditional doom a la Sabbath.

Sean Kennedy rocks the Yamaha.

Boots of lead

On to what I shall call the main event. Yes, Blood Ceremony were the headliners and were great, but but it's not often that legends like Iron Man grace the stage es of Ottawa. This was actually the first time they've played Canada, if I heard correctly. Albert Morris' Black Sabbath cover band has had its ups and downs - whatever course the fates have in mind, they'll always have a place in the hearts of fans of true doom.

Screaming Mad Dee rocks the bandanna.

Wretched bassist Louis Strachan shows the Thin Lizzy love.

They've just released a new EP, at halla dig over (there are umlauts and such in the title I don't know how to reproduce), available at their website.
