Montreal metalheads Cauchemar have a new album out, Chapelle Ardente, and headed to Ottawa for a show with Quebec biker-instrumentalists The Death Wheelers and soon-to-be tourmates Occult Burial for a Night of the Witch - or as I call it, last Friday. First on the boards were The Death Wheelers (who take their name from the North American title of British cult biker-horror Psychomania). They sound quite a bit like a vocals-free version of Electric Wizard, and definitely excel at the instrumental-metal thing. Here's some bass action with Max!
Guitar action with Sy!
More Max, along with drummer Richard and guitarist Hugo!
Helmeted Hugo action!
And so on!
Richard hits!
Deathly action!
Wheeling action!
Hair-tossing action!
Feedback action!
Faceoff action!
The end!
Occult Burial are heading over to Europe this October and November to tour with Cauchemar; they warned things up nicely with some thrashy black metal. Here's guitarist Dan!
Joel sings!
More Dan!
Dan (also of Durs Couers hits)!
Double Dan exposure!
Fist-pumping action!
Head-banging action!
Cauchemar brought the night to an end with some witchy doom. Here's some bass action with Andre!
Anick sings ....
... and works the keys!
Xavier hits!
Guitar action with Francois!
And so on!
Fist-pumping action!
Extra Francois!
Rhythm section action!
More Xavier!
Extra Anick!
They've got one more gig in Montreal with Blood Ceremony this Saturday, then they rest up for their trip across the pond.
