The velvet hour

There was a nicely varied bill at Pressed last week - some electronica from Transmit vs. Intangerines, punk from new locals Torpor and some swell shoegaze from Baltimore's Natural Velvet. Here's Transmit vs. Intangerines (or Transmit and Intangerines, if you prefer) in action!

Natural Velvet also did a great job wrapping things up with some wall-of-noise post-punk. Here's guitarist Spike!

Better luck Sunday

It's a good thing there's such a thing as Sunday shows; on Saturday I planned to check out the Heavy Bell show at Pressed, but it sold out. Then the puck show at Targ was cancelled due to burst pipes. Then the power in my building went out. Well, along comes Sunday and a show featuring some East Coast electronica acts along with a couple of local acts. First up was Low Noise Productions' Young Truck with some guitar-augmented synth sounds (which you can check out on Bandcamp if you're so inclined).

What's the word

On Monday I was at Black Squirrel Books for a mixed bill, starting with the synthetic sounds of Transmit vs. Intangerines (last seen at House of Targ for one of their Switched On Synths nights last month), Peterborough noise duo Deathsticks and Baltimore darkwave combo Curse. Here's some electronic action with Transmit vs Intangerines!
