Let's get heavy

At the start of February I went over to a super triple bill, headlined by Toronto's Humanities, with support from Ultra Love and the always top-notch Dark Plains, who kicked things off. Here's Chuck!

Humanities also played a blistering set, they released a new EP, Unnatural Histories, late in 2018, so this was the first chance for the locals to hear it live. Here's Tashi and Scott on the mic.

What she said

If you want to see a wild and crazy show, Duchess Says is always a good bet. I've seen them play a few times in the last decade and frontwoman Annie-Claude always gets up to some entertaining shenanigans - the music is always great too. They were joined by local combos Expanda Fuzz and Dark Plains. Dark Plains started things off with some super-heavy post-punk sounds - here's guitar man Chuck (Last Communion, Mountanaka and others).

Let's just start by saying that Duchess Says always have a strong banner game (which usually gets destroyed by show's end); this time they had one that lit up! Here's well-illuminated drummer Simon and guitarist Ismael!

Blue metallic

Now back to that metal I mentioned earlier this week. On Saturday I headed over to the Dominion Tavern for the release of Loviatar's latest, Diva's Hymn. Also on hand were Dark Plains and Monobrow.

Last time I saw Dark Plains at Pressed, they were a duo of Andy Cant and Matt Deline. They've since added Chuck Saso of Mountanaka, Grey and Last Communion fame.
