San Francisco heavy metal trio Castle have a new album out, To The Graveyard, and are touring to promote it across Canada - they were in Kelowna yesterday, after a hike across the prairies, and are heading back eastward after some more dates in British Columbia. For their Ottawa stop Black Tower and BlackBread were recruited to fill out the heavy bill. Here's Dave from Black Tower!
Erin sings!
Extra Dave!
Rhythm section action with Skotty!
Guitar action with Erin!
Ceiling-examining action with Skotty!
Shouty Skotty action!
The whole lot!
BlackBread also played an excellent set, one of their tightest yet to my ears, with Megan being in particularly fine form. Here's Megan and Yogi!
Rhythm section action with Adam and Ian!
More Megan!
Yogi frets!
Adam hits!
Gripping action!
Extra Ian and Adam!
The whole lot!
Castle put on a dynamite show - this is an outfit that always brings their A-game. Despite a few technical difficulties at the end, things really moved, and Liz has a ton of stage presence.
Guitar action with Mat!
Hair-tossing action!
Extra Liz!
Liz sings!
Growly vocal action with Mat!
Fist-pumping action!
Percussive action!
Extra Mat and Liz!
The shouty bit!
More cymbal!
More Mat!
And so on!
The whole lot!
Closeup action!
Mat sings some more!
Headbanging action!
Faceoff actioN!
After that Liz busted a string so she borrowed Ian's bass for the last couple of songs.
A definite high point of the year.
