I don't see many tribute bands. In fact, I don't think I've seen any, apart from Sheezer. I would suspect that the ladies of Sheezer - mostly luminaries of Toronto's indie music scene - conceived of the plan while drunk had I not heard on good authority they were mostly sober at the time. Anyway, they put on a great show with equally enthusiastic audience participation.
But before things start, it's time to pose for a photo or two with Dana Sneel of The Adorables, The Phonemes' Magali Meagher and Robin Hatch from Sports.
The band is rounded out by well-known T.O. booker Alysha Haugen on lead guitar and thumb-pianist extraordinaire Laura Barrett.
Robin rocks the tambourine.
Sailor Moonish action!
Magali sings!
Guitar action!
The shouty bit!
Robin rocks the harp.
Even more guitar!
Robin frets.
Dana sings!
Face-making action!
And now it's time for the audience to show off their chops ...
Singalong action!
Faceoff action!
Gesticulating action!
Strike a pose!
Rocking action!
Alysha frets!
Johnny and Secret Lover Christine models a fab Sheezer T-shirt.
Laura sings!
Bendy action!
Some pre-encore deliberation.
Magali grabs the microphone.
The strap-breaking end!
And that's it for now ...
