Unpleasant dreams

Montreal's Cauchemar likes their metal old school. Yes, singer Annick Giroux's Morbid Tales magazine and Helbent for Cooking tome roves far and wide along the spectrum of metal and meals, but as far as her band goes it's meat-and-potatoes from the kitchen of Black Sabbath and NWOBHM (okay, I exaggerate a tad). It all suits me just fine, thanks.

Annick rocks the cloak.

Fisheyed Francois action!

It's time for a trip to the left side of the stage and a visit with shadowy live bassist Andres Arango.

And as I've mentioned elsewhere, La Vierge Noire is one of my favourite metal releases of 2010.
