No slow boat

The Empiricals are on the go! First, they're going to play Irene's (tomorrow, as it happens). Then, they play The Aloha Room (a rare Tuesday gig, Sept. 13). All this blistering activity is because not only have they released a CD, they're off to China - the International Tourism Festival in Yichang, near the Great Wall, to be precise. They set up their gear on the raised section to the right of the stage (as is their wont) . All these pictures were shot up close without flash (to avoid the banister) and turned out quite nice, if I do say so myself ...

Paul Hogan.

Dan Sauve.

Mike Dubue.

Philip Shaw Bova.

You'll see more pictures of all but Dan in short order, since Paul, Philip and Mike are also in The Hi Lo Trons, who opened for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! just a few nights later.
  • Show reminder: Come wave bye-bye to the Million Dollar Marxists as they ready themselves for another tour; with the Botched Suicides, Bella Bombs and Sweet Janes helping them give a farewell thrashing at Babylon.
