Last week, Jumpin' Joel Flash invited me over to Live! On Elgin to check out his act (along with The Magic Machine, his band). Good thing he put me on the guest list because the show sold out a few days in advance. Also on the bill, Rhythm & Burgundy and horrible cover band Tears From A Rainbow. China Doll was also on hand to perform emcee duties.
Somehow Tears From A Rainbow got on the bill. I thought they had been deported after their homeland, The Isle of Eternal Sorrow, was kicked out of the U.K. for being too foggy, but apparently not. There was a lot of heckling ... mostly from the soundman .... Also the band seemed confused about which one was Phillip the Downtrodden and which one was Charles the Mournful. Here is Phillip! Or Charles!
Tearful action!
Charles or Phillip sings!
And so on!
Gesturing action!
The end, thankfully!
Comedy musical duo Rhythm & Burgundy were on next. Here's Allison!
Kristine joins in!
More Kristine!
Recorder-playing action!
On to Jumpin' Joel Flash & The Mystery Machine. They were celebrating their new single and video Rain - the video was shot at Live! On Elgin, in fact. Here's Joel!
Sequinned action with Zoe and Robin!
Magically machined action! Since I didn't get any good photos of keyboardist Caroline, ukelelologist Kim, bassist Ashley or drummer Jasen, I will just say this is them.
Guitar action!
Shaking action!
Here's a bit more Jasen and guitarist Brad.
Extra Joel!
Umbrella action!
That was fun. JJF&MM will be playing at the Rainbow March 17 as well.
