Wednesday night i went to Mavericks to check out some heavy rock sounds. Greece's 1000mods have gained quite a reputation in Europe, and now they're looking to conquer North America. They have a really solid Kyuss-influenced sound, so why not? Kicking off the four-band bill were Trailer Five, who had a slightly shorter trip to make _ they're from Cornwall. Here's frontman Jorden!
Percussive action with Gilles!
Guitar action with Tyler!
Trailer action!
Neight sings!
Five-ish action!
Rhythm section action!
I'm not sure if Monobrow is the local band I've seen the most of, but they've got to be in the running for the top spot. Good thing they're one of the city's best! Here's Paul!
Brian hits!
More Paul!
Rhythm section action!
Bass action with Sam!
Extra Brian!
More Paul!
The whole lot!
More Brian and Sam!
I'd forgotten I'd seen Sierra before - partly because the Kitchener band was first on a five band bill, but mostly because three of the other bands on the bill were White Hills, Blood Ceremony and Kylesa (I also set off to get my cabinetmaking diploma later that year, so I only posted a couple of photos of their set). Then, as now, they reminded me of Firebird - really solid stuff. Here's guitarist Jason and drummer Sam!
Extra Jason!
Sam hits!
Bass action with Robbie!
Even more Sam!
Extra Robbie!
More Jason!
Jason sings!
Robbie sings!
Sierran action!
1000mods ended the night in style with some monster riifage played through a whole lot of Orange amplification. Here's frontman Dani!
Lab hits!
Guitar action! Not sure if this is Giannis or George!
More guitar!
More Labros!
Dani sings!
The earplugs certainly got a workout!
