On Tuesday I went to Targ to eat some perogies, listen to some music and - most important of all - support a good cause: The Standing Rock Sioux's fight against the Dakota Access pipeline. The benefit was organized by Targ staffer Jeff - seen most recently on the blog playing bass with DOXX. Melodic punk rockers Fresh Hell were on stage first, but I was busy eating and only took a few photos during their last two songs. Here's some guitar action with Steve and Cory!
Bass action with Devin!
More guitar!
More Vance and Devin!
And er, that's all that's fit for publication (sorry Vance); on to Gurm, a trio featuring Felix and Connor from Toxic Thoughts alongside vocalist Keefer. Here's Felix on guitar!
Connor hits!
Keefer sings!
More Felix!
Extra Keefer!
Bonus Connor!
Gurmish action!
Closeup action!
More Connor and Felix!
And so on!
Then it was on to some indigenous hip-hop from Cody Coyote, who was joined by hoop dancer Theland Kicksnoway and singer David White Deer Charette. Here's Cody!
David sings!
Theland jumps!
Closeup action!
"I say courage, you say freedom!"
And so on!
Cody and David teamed up for a song.
Their was a brief interlude for poet and activist Neal Shannacoppa to discuss the situation at Standing Rock and read a poem.
Next, some crusty punk-metal action from Entrenched! Here's bassist Crusty!
Jay hits!
Chris sings!
Extra Jay!
And so on!
Staring action with Chris!
Guitar action!
Rhythm section action!
Glorious Moonrockets finished things off around midnight - they seem to be busy lately, this was the second time I'd caught them in a matter of weeks. Here's Chris!
Bass action with Roscoe!
More Chris!
Shawn hits!
Hair-tossing action!
Shawn sings!
The whole lot!
Shawn steps out!
A great night for a a worthy cause.
