Friday at Targ was another chance to catch up with some wayfaring strangers (as well as a bunch of local combos). Quetzal Snakes hail from Marseille, France and dish out some choice space rock. They were joined by Montreal's Sonic Panic, who played some killer garage-psyche, local oddballs Uvula and Warp Lines. Uvula was on first, and features Patrick Lawlor (Flaps, and others), Jamie (also a Flapper) and Jarret Bartlett. Here's a slightly fogged Pat!
Smiley Jamie action!
Bearded Bartlett bass action!
Jamie hits!
Rhythm section action!
More guitar and more fog!
Brush-and-mallet action!
Jarrett sings?!?
Pat sings!
Onward with Big Dick offshoot Warp Lines, and singing-and-drumming Dave!
Bass action with Kurt!
Johnny strums!
Rhythm section action!
Foggy Johnny action!
Kurt sings!
Percussive action!
Johnny sings!
Singalong action!
Warped action!
The whole lot!
I was really impressed by Sonic Panic's dirty rock; they're fun to watch and listen to. Here's Ked Panic on guitar!
The rhythm section is Vic Panic on drums and Mad Panic on bass.
Ked sings!
Flying V action with Mad!
And so on!
Shouty Vic action!
Mad sings!
Ked sings!
The whole lot!
Singalong action!
Oh, that Vic!
Strap-losing action!
Space rockers Quetzal Snakes aren't big on biographies, so I have no idea who any of these guys are, but they are fond of psychedelic guitar noises, so my ears were well-treated during their set.
More Flying V action!
Vocal action!
More guitar!
They do like their Fender Jazzmasters ....
The whole blurry lot!
Psychedelic shirt action!
Headbanging action!
And so on!
Running about in the crowd action!
Reptilian action!
Plenty of fun.
