Friday I took a break from letter to check out the surf-influenced sounds of Wakefield's Madafakas, fellow surf fans Casa Lagarto and Nightshades, courtesy of the House of Targ (with a helping hand from the Beau's folks).
Casa Lagarto took the stage first (I actually arrived as they were starting up a number). This was their first gig.
Singalong action! That's Jonny from The Yips at left.
The whole lot!
More Jonny!
The shouty bit!
Hammy action with Sterling!
The end!
The Nightshades provided a garage-styled interlude. Here's Geoff!
Mallory sings!
Bass action with Sarah!
Extra Geoff!
Guitar action!
Harmonious action!
And so on!
Rhythm section action!
The Madafakas tied a bow on the night with some surf and punk inflected sounds. I dare say their wardrobe owes a bit to The Clash, and their sound does too.
Projected action!
Faceoff action!
Danelectro action!
The Madafakas are a lively lot, so I had to switch over to flash.
More guitar!
Percussive action!
More running about!
Crouching action!
Up-and-down action!
Vocal action!
As I said, a really lively bunch and well worth checking out.
