Saturday night I headed over to Pressed. It was a chance to see a couple of bands I had neither seen nor heard of before, Eagle Tears and Moon Destroyer. Eagle Tears were the main draw for me since I like that retro-rock stuff. It was a fairly eclectic evening otherwise, with The SIck SIck Sicks' trademark Django-billy and Moon Destroyer's more post-sludge metal sound.
Moon Destroyer kicked things off ... they sounded a bit like the louder parts of Explosions In The Sky.
Feedback action!
There was also some some singing, but mostly they stick to the instrumental stuff.
Percussive action!
More guitar!
More bass!
Eagle Tears and Sick Sick Sicks after the jump ....
Montreal rockers Eagle Tears have a definite southern rock feel; I hear a lot of Lynyrd Skynyrd in their musical DNA, along with other 1970s guitar rockers like Thin Lizzy, T2 and the like.
Frontman Hal kicks things off with some harmonica.
Guitar action with George Grove; bassist J.B. is at right. If I'm not mistaken, George has appeared before on ye old blog fronting The Gospel.
On the left we have Steve Lud - who I seem to recall slinging some bass for The Mongrels.
This is one of those triple-guitar combos!
George sings!
The whole lot (that's a blurry Bob Eaglesham on drums)!
Gripping action!
Guitar action!
And my only shot of Bob.
On to the Sick Sick Sicks, who were sounding very sharp ... of course the evening was just starting for them: They were also playing at Dark and Stormy at Babylon later that night.
Maxim sings!
Rob frets!
Guitar action!
Rhythm section action!
The whole lot!
And so on!
A most entertaining evening.
