Things are getting chilly outside, but it was all muggy inside Mugshots as Bruised Tongue and Kichesippi took over the hostel bar in order to sell tapes and beer. There were also three bands in town: Ottawa's own Yips, Montrealers Ultrathin and Toronto squallers Soupcans.
The Yips brought their smoke machine. I was stuck up against the wall by one of the speakers so my photos turned out kinda samey ...
Guitar action with Jon and Zach!
More Jon! (And also another Jon!)
Fisheye action!
Crazy lights action!
The only shot of Kurt - the band was squeezed in pretty tight.
Kerri swings some axe.
The end!
More noise with Ultrathin and Soupcans after the jump ...
Like The Yips, last time I saw Ultrathin was at Mugshots, though we've seen bassist Mark in the interim slinging some bass for The Holy Cobras.
The whole lot, with guitarist Shaun and drummer Brett!
Bonus Brett!
The crowd goes wild!
More Mark!
On to The Soupcans, who had about 15 minutes to play their set as closing time approached.
Davod/Dave/Dirk frets!
Nick handles the low end! (And wears a styling Fucked Corpse button.)
The shouty bit!
Giovanni hits!
The crowd goes wild!
And that was their 15 minutes all done. Nothing more to do but grab a copy of the new Heavy Chains seven-inch and go home.
