I get the impression that Halloween is turning into a week-long event, at least when it doesn't land on a Friday or Saturday. Ottawa's Halloween parties started back on Oct. 25 and were still loping along last night: There were still costumes to be had at Ritual for last night's Sheezer show, which not-so-coincidentally landed three years to the day from when I first saw them at Zaphod's.
Opening honours went to Diana Carter ... er, I mean Elgin Skye, the first but not the last Wonder Woman of the night.
She did some solo singer-songwriter stuff abetted by some well-timed looping.
Gripping action!
The end! "The amazing thing is, I already had all the parts for this costume in my wardrobe."
After the jump, Boyhood and more Wonder Woman!
Boyhood hit the stage next. They'll have none of your post-Halloween costume shenanigans, thank you!
Luke handles the low end.
Alex frets!
Caylie sings!
The boys of Boyhood.
The view from the other side of the stage!
Guitar action!
Callum sings!
The whole lot!
And now, Sheezer. When I saw them at Zaphod's in 2013, they were kitted out as Sailor Moon. This time around it was superhero time, starting with yes, another Wonder Woman: This time Golden Age style as embodied by Alysha Haugen, last seen on the blog playing bass for By Divine Right.
Laura Barrett went as Phoenix. There was also a Dark Phoenix in the crowd; I guess there were plans for a faceoff later ....
Drummer Dana Barrett She-Hulked out.
And to the left, She-Ra, Princess of Power (chords)! Better known as Robin Hatch.
Weezerish action!
More Alysha!
Robin sings!
More guitar!
Laura sings!
Extra Robin!
And some multi-tasking.
Entertaining as ever!
