First up, Loviatar, recently see sharing a stage with Monobrow and The Uncooperatives at The Dominion. By a strange coincidence, that was around our Thanksgiving, and this show was around the U.S. Thanksgiving. Loviatar don't have anything really Thanksgiving-related in their repertoire, so the audience had to settle for being pummelled by tunes about dragons and suchlike.

Shane works some feedback.

Collider where on stage next. I don't think I've heard much about these local sludgelords before now. Their super-low-end crunch invites comparison to heavy construction gear and comes packaged with some extra-raspy vocals for good measure.

There was much 'stache action at Mavericks.

I am guessing that a lot of people were introduced to Red Fang's heavy metal thunder by their fab low-budget videos (a new one is in rough cut, I hear), and the Portland Quartet back it up live with some hairy-man West Coast metal, a la Bison B.C. and High on Fire.

Take that, cymbals!

A dynamite set; I would have bought both albums if is didn't own them already ...
- Show reminder: Speaking of The Uncooperatives, they rock the Legion on Kent St. with Abyssed and Barrow Wight tonight; Hey Rosetta!, The Jezabels and Ivan & Alyosha perform a sold-out show at Bronson Centre Theatre; Ship Shapes, Caitlin Dolan, The MudPlots and Mike & The Valentine play the Clocktower; there's more anniversary action at The Rainbow with J.W. Jones; there's more hard rock at Mavericks tonight, as Kill City release their new CD with support from Monobrow and In Heat. The Reverb Syndicate play Irene's; Zeus and The Skeletones Four are at Zaphod's. There will also be some hardrocking courtesy of some Rottaway vets in The Black Stone Hearts at The Brass Monkey, along with Pretty Little Death Machine and Stereo Tease.
