Henrys' dream

I mentioned Ottawa's The John Henrys back when I posted about Elliott Brood. They were a real knockout then, and they've been first rate on the several occasions I've seen them since. They have a very good self-released album out, and are sure to make a wider impression once the word gets out. Here are a series of pictures ... some from that first show at Zaphods, and a few from Babylon, from their CD release party and opening for the Sadies March 5.

Rey Sabatin handles most of the vocals, and also sold me two acoustic guitars (like many local musicians, he also works at Songbird Music). This is a Zaphod's picture.

... as is this one of Doug Gouthro.

Some acoustic action, with a barely visible bassist Darryl Quinlan behind them.

Keyboardist/lapsteel/guitar player (and occasional lead vocal) Steve Tatone, at Babylon, last weekend.

Also taken at the Sadies show, drummer and backing vocalist Geoff Ward. Darn microphone stands.

And here's Darryl, from the CD release show, showing his upside-down bass technique.

They were aiming for a homey feel at the CD release show - thus the lamp.
