If there was one show I was hankering all summer to see, it was the appearance by the legendary YOB at Mavericks. The monstrously heavy trio are one of my favourite contemporary bands, and the rest of the bill was mighty solid as well. Up first, Gatineau glacier-dwellers Norilsk. Here's some very hairy action from Nicolas!
Guitar action!
A picture of Nic's drumset and hair!
More Nicolas!
More Nic!
Blackened action!
Even more guitar!
The shadowy side of the stage!
Superheavy Seattle drum and bass combo Bell Witch changed things up and slowed things down for their pensive set. Here's Dylan!
Some soundchecking action with Jesse!
Six-stringed action!
Jesse takes it easy during the intro.
Big hit!
Tippy-tappy action!
Extra Jesse!
Cymbal action!
Extra Dylan!
And a bit more Jesse!
Dylan sings!
The whole lot!
YOB more than lived up to their reputation with a killer set. Here's Mike, who definitely seemed to be enjoying himself (as one would, after a brush with death).
Travis hits!
More Mike!
Bass action with Aaron!
Mike likes it!
More Travis!
Grimacing action!
Even more Mike!
Active Aaron!
Rhythm section action!
Hair-tossing action!
More Travis!
Fist-pumping action!
Accelerated action!
Super stuff all around.
