As June wound to a close I headed over to House of Targ for some metal action, delivered by Boston heavyweights Black Mass, resurrected locals Infrared (I was invited by Asher Media Relations, their publicists, so I got in for free), Mortor and Cornwall's Unknown. Unknown were on first. Who are they? I don't know. Just kidding, here's some guitar action with Joe!
Obscured action with Neight!
Constant motion with Kyle!
More guitar!
Bass action with Jay!
Extra Neight!
More Jay!
Faceoff action!
More Kyle!
Backlit action!
Rhythm section action!
On to Mortor, who put on a killer set of death thrash. Here's Jonathan on vocals!
Six-string bass action with Nicolas!
Extra Jonathan!
Guitar action with band founder David!
Hair-tossing action with Nicolas!
And the award for best guitar-face goes to Adam!
Jonathan sings!
Jay hits!
More David!
Tippy-tappy action!
Even more Jonathan!
Extra Adam!
Adam bends!
Infrared first surfaced in the mid 1980s, then called it a day in 1989. Twenty-five years later they decided to head back to the visible spectrum, and it's really like no time has passed at all: They played a killer set of classic thrash. They'll be playing again Sept. 3, as will Mortor, on a bill at Mavericks headed by another old school combo, Venom Inc. Here's Armin on guitar and vocals!
More guitar with Kirk!
Alain hits!
And so on!
Extra Kirk!
Armin sings!
Bass action with Mike!
Singalong action!
Rhythm section action!
More guitar!
Even more Alain!
Alain sings!
Black Mass also killed, playing a doom-tinged thrash. Here's bassist Cristian!
Brendan sings!
Percussive action with Alex!
More Brendan!
Alex hits!
More Brendan!
Massive action!
The whole lot!
A really solid night.
