At the start of June I headed over to House of Targ for some metal action, headlined by the sui generis Muffler Crunch. It was a chance to catch up with Lycanthro, who I've only seen playing Motorhead covers, and Mad Parish, a combo I last heard a good decade ago. They've been through a few changes since then - in fact, I think singer Josh could be the only guy remaining from that long-ago lineup. Here he is, pointing to a suspicious stain on the Targ stucco!
Keyboard action with Dave!
Flying V action with Bob (who I believe was also playing drums for Eagle Tears last time they were in town)!
Mad action with ceiling-scraping bassist Steve (another Eagle man) and guitarist Aaron!
Bob sings!
Rhythm section action with Paskal and Steve!
More Paskal!
Extra Josh!
Extra madness!
Lycanthro went on last for the Motorhead tribute show back in January, and their performance was, shall we say, rough but ready. They were a lot sharper with their own material for this punchy set. Here's some in-the-red action from David and James!
Bass action with Kyle!
Nathan hits!
More James!
Nathan sings a bit!
Singalong action!
Hairy headbanging action!
The whole lot!
Tipping over action!
Behind the back action!
Things got a bit more technical for Dead Centuries' set. On the right is Adam, on the left is recent band addition Jacob. They're also playing a house show this Sunday ("Ask a punk").
Percussive action with Bryant!
Fretful action with Jacob!
More Adam!
Tippy-tappy action!
The whole lot!
Even more guitar!
And so on!
The crowd had thinned out a bit by the time Muffler Crunch came on, but as always they killed it.. Here's Luc!
Angie hits!
Crunchy action!
More Angie!
Luc works the crowd!
Shouty action!
More shouty action!
Pint-pulling action!
The end!
Ferocious as always!
