The Damn Truth landed at the House of Targ last week for the penultimate show of a cross-country tour before wrapping things up in their hometown Montreal. Their bluesy sound is decidedly retro, and I suspect that if you transported somebody attending a show at the Fillmore in San Francisco in the mid-to-late 1960s they wouldn't bat an eye. The Lindbergh Babies started things off with some punky rock'n'roll. Here's some bass-and-guitar action with Ken and Greg!
Kris frets, Tara sings!
Jon hits!
Kris strums!
More Jon!
Singalong action!
Extra Greg!
Muffler Crunch were an ideal outfit to open for The Damn Truth, they use some of the same musical ideas to build their music while sounding quite different (and not just from The Damn Truth - just about everyone). Here's some guitar action with Luc!
Angie hits!
Extra Luc!
Angie sings!
Grimacing action!
More Angie!
Flashy action!
The whole lot!
Even more Angie!
Luc sings!
The Damn Truth put on an excellent live show; if you dig Janis Joplin style Texas blues rock then they're definitely up your alley. Here's drummer Dave!
Gripping action with Lee-La!
Bass action!
Faceoff action!
Tambourine action!
Guitar action with Tom!
Rhythm section action!
Lee-La breaks out the guitar!
Hairy guitar action!
Vocal action!
Damnable action!
Maracas action!
More tambourine with Tom!
A very lively night out.
