When it comes to the blues, Super Chikan is my kind of performer, adding a big jolt of electricity to the dirty Delta blues sound. He also makes his own instruments, and uses some cigarette box stuff made by other DIY instrument makers.
The man also known as James Johnson checks things out.
Juke joint pianist Lala Craig also kicks things up a notch.
And here's the colour version.
Also in the band, drummer Jameisa Turner (his daughter) and bassist Heather Falduto.
Unfortunately, it's hard to capture Craig's energy on film.
Extra Heather!
Closeup action!
Hollering action!
Extra Craig!
Extra Chikan!
Rocking out with the cigar box!
Smokin' action!
These folks can work a stage.
A stellar performance.

I agree, Super Chikan stands out as one of the most entertaining shows of the fest this year.
