My word, but January was an unusually fruitful month for rock'n'roll ... or maybe that's just when it goes rolled out at a band per day two months after the fact. I'm guessing that seeing Red Mass, Dinosaur Jr and the return of The Banditas on successive nights also had something to do with it. For those who didn't catch the original post or know nothing of the band, Red Mass is the latest Montreal supergroup, centred around former CPC Gangbanger Roy "Choyce" Vucino. He's joined by The Roller (who I keep confusing with the first CPC Gangbangs bassist, Tom Kitsos, damn it!) and a cast of dozens. Some, like King Khan, BBQ, Bloodshot Bill, Giselle Weber and a bunch of other pseudonym-toting freaks show be familiar to followers of this here blog (you can check out past posts of Demon's Claws, Hot Springs, Black Feelings for some familiar faces ...). Now it wasn't like all 30 past-and-present members were on stage this night. You had Choyce on guitar, Roller on percussion, a bassist, drummer (often Owain from Black Feelings, but not on this occasion as far as I can tell from my blurry photos) a keyboardist and trumpet player. Still, you can get a lot psychedelic garage-rock throb from only six people.

My Fujifilm point-and-shoot is nifty, but taking well lit shots from across the room is not a strong point.
I forgot to credit Howdy Doody on trumpet. At least he dressed sharp for the occasion.

I don't think that Tom "Roller" Kitsos would have much to do with the Red Mass. It's his CPC Gangbangs replacement who does. Kitsos left the band in 2007.
Ahem, let me rephrase that, since you are undeniably correct. In fact this is the second time I've said that Ric (aka The Roller) is Tom Kitsos ... I'm on some kind of misidentification streak lately ...
The Roller replaced Tom Kitsos. I knew that his name was Ricardo but didn't know about that "Roller" moniker until I checked their web site. They don't usually use these nicknames between them. "Top o' the morning to you The Warden!" they did not say!
